Sit and Knit with X-Factor Sensation Olly Murs at first-ever Vodafone Knitting Pop-up Boutique! Yes, you read that right, Olly was knitting on Grafton Street today!
It was all part of Vodafone’s attempt to ‘Cheer Up your Top Up’ as they are giving up to 40% free. Vodafone’s idea was inspired by the ‘urban knitting’ trend which started in 2008, see our previous post on this trend when it first came to our attention.
The pop up knitting shop at 11 Grafton Street will only be open until Thursday, tomorrow evening. The sit’n'knit session may be something different to try if you are taking it easy this month not to mention knitwear is big this season although your first attempts may not cut it!

Carolan Lennon, Consumer Director, Vodafone Ireland commented, “Olly is in town to help us launch the initiative today and to cheer everyone up! We have a large scale marketing campaign – which plays on the urban knitting craze – kicking off to make sure that all our customers hear about the extra special value available to them from Vodafone. January can be a tough month for everyone, so it’s a great time to spread a bit of cheer and offer some extra special value to over 1.5 million Vodafone prepay customers.”
Personally, I’ll wait another thirty years before picking up the knitting needles but good luck to anyone that gives it a go! Check out the Olly at HMV today below…
