My eye balls have been tortured in the interest of you readers knowing who’s who in the world of mascara!
I started with YSL. This was discovered ?good as new? under my bed recently, a present given to me by my Captain Sensible (aka hubby). So the trial began. Make up all applied, I opened the wand to see a brush with no pointed end and what seemed like a lot of product. Lots of product on a brush scares me as it usually means you?ll have a clumped finish your eye lids will find heavy to open! On application this was not the case. The mascara applied well, however it did need about three applications to give a nice full look and less of a spiders legs look. I was very happy until it came to taking it off. This mascara is great for those who like waterproof mascara, I unfortunately don’t, hence it being found under the bed!
Next on the list was MAC, they have various types of brushes and I tried the one which pointed at the end. Again the brush looked heavily loaded with product but didn’t apply that way. It was perfect to apply, maybe not the fullest look but I was definitely happy with it. It’s not waterproof so it got my vote. I do however think MAC’s forte is eye shadows but that’s for another day.
One of the girls at work kindly gave her opinions on mascaras… ?Hi! At the moment I am using a No.7 mascara. I don’t really stick to any particular one. I think the mascara wand is the thing you have to get right. I always look for really thick ones with lots of little bristles. Sometimes I will keep the wand and re-use it with different mascaras. The worst wand and mascara I have ever used is the Bourjois Clubbing mascara. CLUMP CITY! It was so wet and didn’t give any definition at all. I always scrape my mascara off my wand before I apply, and then build it up if I need to. Mascara we use in the salon at the moment is Gosh. I like Gosh because it’s similar to MAC…? Bourjois not making the cut there!
My final mascara to try was Clinique. I didn’t really have to try anything as I?ve been using it for years and love it. It gives length and fullness without looking clumped. Also, any other mascaras I?ve used for a length of time irritate my eyes. If you have sensitive eyes this is probably one of the better ones for you. If you always end up with mascara down your face try getting an eye lash tint for colour and use clear mascara.

Armani’s Maestro Mascara is fabulous because of that very reason- the brush. It’s super thin so it doesn’t make a mess easily. I can never understand why Benefit insist on giant chunky brushes that are impossible to use without splodging all over your eyelid!
Also, Estee Lauder’s Turbo Lash (the vibrating one) is pricey but well worth the “35, it actually saves time by getting right down to the base of you lashes, quick smart!
I’m definitely a waterproof kinda girl- especially since I moved to Mayo. It’s a clich
I’m intrigued too! Vibrating brush??
Oh yes! The tech term is ‘micro-pulsing LashSonic’ and it revs up when you twist the cap “oscillating at 125-cycles per second”. The main plus is that it stops clumping by separating the lashes, allowing you to get a second coat onto each one. Hits the shops on December 1st, merry Christmas indeed!
that’s given me an idea re. my old electric toothbrush!
Sounds dangerous if you’ve had a few drinks on board but it’s worth a look when it’s out
Yup, I’ve been passing it around at parties and it’ been a hit so far… particularly with bemused men.
Max Factor Lengthening was one of the best mascaras of all time, it seems to have disappeared off the market but it transformed lashes from short to long like no other!
Try http://www.boots.com/…/ProductDisplay or maxfactor.com you might find it there, it sounds great!
