For any of you not aware the British Fashion Awards were held in London last night. There were a couple of well known winners in various categories. To start we have the ‘Swarovski Emerging Talent Award – Ready To Wear Award’ (what a mouthful!) went to Louise Goldin. Louise designed a line of mini dresses and knits for Topshop‘s spring/summer ’08 collection so we can all buy in.
We then move on to the ‘Designer Brand’ won by Jimmy Choo – what a surprise! They had to beat off Agent Provocateur and Paul Smith to take the award home, not an easy task.
My favourite award of the night, the ‘Red Carpet Designer’ award was rightfully given to Matthew Williamson. Pipped to the post were worthy finalists Giles Deacon and Stella McCartney. Great news for us normal folk … Williamson is to have a new line out with H&M this April, just in time for summer, yipeee! Pictured are three of Williamson’s evening dresses.
Not to leave anyone involved in fashion out, in ’04 a ‘Model’ award was created. The award is to recognise the Brit face making the most impact on the International fashion scene. Jourdan Dunn won this award beating Agyness Deyn.
Drum roll please ….. The main award of the evening, ‘Designer Of The Year Award’ went to Luella Bartley! Luella found her way to fashion as a journalist working with the Evening Standard and Vogue. Her catwalk debut was in 2000 and she has gone from strength to strength. I’ve popped a picture of her designs in prime position at the top of this post. Hope its position didn’t give the punch line away…
