Knitting has been experiencing somewhat of a revival recently, with celebrities and fashion types alike tearing up and down the aisles in search of the perfect coloured ball! Julia Roberts, Madonna, Kirstin Davis and Cameron Diaz are all fans. Even tough guy Russell Crowe has had a go.

(OK, he hasn’t but that shot is priceless).
With recession talk still reigning supreme and an increased emphasis on ethical and responsible spending, knitting seems to offer the perfect solution. In times of economic trouble creativity always flourishes, so once the party season is over you can fill your evenings making hats and tea cosies and other woolly delights. I?m thinking of knitting those cashmere socks I?ve been after!
You might even pop along to a ‘stitch n bitch? meeting or head to Stitch (http://www.stitchireland.com/index.html) in Beaumount, Dublin 9 for crochet or knitting classes. Or if that’s not up your street check out Vogue Knitting (http://www.vogueknitting.com/) for all the latest trends and patterns-no joke. Knitwear is a huge trend this season so the bigger and bolder, the better.
Great for stress relief, apparently and better than going to the pub (for your health at least)!

Back to basics at the sniff of a recession, its great, must dust off the ol knitting needles and go in search of a good pattern.
