Another day in celebville and another excuse for dressing up! This time the female stars recently gathered for the annual “Glamour” Women of the Year Awards in New York to celebrate and honour women in the limelight. Indeed it was a very glamorous affair with stars such as Rihanna, Katherine McPhee and Catherine Zeta Jones all attending in their glad-rags… as usual the red-carpet had as many misses on the style stakes as it did hits!

I am in two minds over Rihanna’s paper-mache style dress! In one way its refreshing to see her in something that’s not bum-skimming, super sexy and pvc-eque, and usually the more dramatic the dress, the more I fall in love with it. However, the white Stéphane Rolland couture dress just looks so much better on the catwalk than in real life. Poor Rihanna could barely walk in the creation and the mermaid style with pleated fabric detail swirling around the bodice, it reminded me slightly of toilet paper!

I think this is going to be one of those marmite situations…love it or hate it???

Oh man, Iman! She is hitting all the trend boxes here; pale pink, feathered, top designer of the moment Jason Wu and clashing neon green belt! Usually I am not a lover of matchy matchy shoes and dresses, but in this case it works because anything else would have been overkill. I am loving this look…funnily enough on paper this really shouldn’t work…but it does and she looks sensational!

Now I am not one to usually diss Ms “smile with your eyes” Banks…however, considering she spends a lot of her time on “America’s next top model” critiquing the wannabees clothes at elimination I reckon she deserves some critiquing herself! She has sooo got it wrong for this event.. It’s way to dull and drab in style, fit and colour for a glamour awards, bring back the Glamazon Tyra Banks please. It looks like something she should wear to go meet Michelle Obama…much more suited for a business meeting or press call! Yes nude is in…but not in this way, Tyra, you can do better!

I think Kerry Washington looks amazing wearing this Fendi blush lace floor-length dress. She looks simply ethereal and elegant. Okay there is a small resemblance to a Jane Austen character, but I think she really pulls this look off, and not many would! The colour complements her skin-tone, she keeps the look really sophisticated and simple with a little pop of personality from the Louboutin snake skin print clutch.

Stella McCartney designs are always seen on every red-carpet, and she dresses the majority of the women in Hollywood…so surprsie surprise here is Stella wearing…Stella McCartney…shocker! Nice to see her in something other than black but I think the little satin purple number is a bit too tweeny for her, she should have come out of her box and spiced it up a little…I’m just a bit…yawn…eh…bored with her to be honest. Pity she didn’t even dress comedian Amy Poehler with anything interesting, she too was blah in a Stella McCartney design that was ill-fitting, bland and very dowdy.

For those of you who don’t know or recognise my next victim, she’s a previous runner-up of American Idol, Katherine McPhee. She’s gone all grown up and chopped off the long brunette locks in favor of this Hilary Clinton style do…yeh, I have no idea why either? It ages her at least ten years! However, I am totally in love with the Bodyamr peacock blue, jersey gown. Amazing…loving the details of the black patent leather trim on the back. It’s sexy without being OTT…now she just needs to sort out that hair!
