Effects On The Skin From Mineral Deficiency

We are what we eat so lets get shopping… below are a few ingredients you might want to include!

Zinc: skin can wrinkle and sag, stretchmarks form more easily. Severe cases skin healing slows down – Source: meat, nuts, seafood, cheese, grains

Sulphur: hair and nails will become weaker and skin will scale as it’s usually rich in sulphur – Source: eggs, sprouts, cabbage, fish, dried beans, onions

Selenium: this is our friend! Selenium is vitally important in maintaining tissue elasticity, deficiency would contribute to premature ageing – Source: cheese, wholemeal bread, cod, shrimp, crab, garlic

Silicon: lacking in this mineral can cause flabbiness of the skin, weak nails and dull hair – Source: apples, honey, avocado

I always refer to “You are what you eat” by Gillian McKeith which lists symtoms by body area and tells you what you’re lacking in from symptoms on your eyes, nails, tongue, skin etc. It’s great (even though I’m not a fan of the lady herself)
