How to Make your own Graphic T’s and Tanks

So as everyone knows the economy sucks right now, buying your favourite outfits can be frustrating, especially when you really don’t have the money to do so. There’s a way to get around this, by making your own graphic T’s and tanks. This is a cost efficient solution and it can be fun to do. So you’re probably wondering how this can be accomplished, without having to spend an insane amount of money. There are many ways to go about it; if you’re an artist you can actually make your own graphics. Having your own ideas made into something you can wear and show off to your friends, is quite gratifying. Plus, it’s a money saver, granted it may take a little time, but in the end it will be worth it.

So the first thing you want to do is go to your local craft and art store and pick up some Inkjet Print n Press iron on transfer paper. Or you can get Quick Fuse iron on Inkjet Fabric sheets, either one is good for a project such as this. When buying this make sure you get more then you think you need, you know just in case there is a mess up! The next thing you want to do is take some time and think about what you want to draw. Once, you have what you want in your head, go to work. Now you don’t draw your graphic on the iron paper, this goes on regular, white paper. When it is finished, you stick the paper on your scanner and scan it into your computer. Then you print out the scan on the iron on paper or fabric sheet, make sure the paper is in the printer the right way, because if it isn’t it will screw it up. Trust me; I know I’ve done it before. Print it out, place it in the spot you want it, and iron it on your t-shirt or tank top. And there you go, you have an awesome shirt or tank. Now if you’re not an artist like me, you can find cool graphics online to use.

Now you’re probably thinking where do I go to get the T-shirt or tank top. Well, some craft stores sell t-shirts, so you can get one from there. Or you can use an old plain t-shirt or tank top from your wardrobe. Another suggestion is to go to a cheap store and buy a pack of them. Either one of these options will work. Like I said before this is something fun to do, it’s also creative and a money saver.

A New Trend in the Battle of the Bulge

A New Trend in the Battle of the Bulge

overweight-332420

No more potions, pills, exercise and diets that don’t seem to work.  Liposuction and surgery is too expensive and you’re wondering is there another alternative to get rid of this stubborn belly fat.  Well, as it turns out there just might be, it’s called freezing the fat.  Yes, you read right, freezing the fat.  Now I know what you’re thinking, could this be something that actually works and what is it exactly.

Well, it’s called Zeltiq; it’s a procedure that uses a special cooling technology to get rid of unwanted fat without surgery.  So what they do is, a gel pad is placed over the skin and a vacuum type applicator is applied.  What this vacuum type applicator does, is it sucks in the area between the two cooling panels.  The cold temperature breaks down the fat cells without causing damage to other tissues.  Now see when fat is very cold it essentially melts.  So with this procedure the fat cells over a period of 2-6 months are eliminated through the body’s normal metabolic process, like fat in food.  The best candidate for this procedure is someone who is close to their ideal body weight.  This isn’t FDA approved yet but I have a feeling if it will and it works, this will be the hottest trend when it comes to beating the battle of the bulge.

Think about it ladies and gentlemen, a procedure that is non-invasive and non-surgical.  There’s no pain, you’re not out of commission for a week or more.  After the procedure is done, you can go back to your normal routine, very convenient I’d say.  I mean it does take couple months to see results, but it’s probably well worth it.  If you want the body you’ve always dreamed of, why not give it a try.  I mean if conventional methods haven’t worked for you and surgery definitely isn’t option, why not try this.

Making your way into the Fashion Industry

Making your way into the Fashion Industry

r174470_661120

A career in fashion is something you dreamed about your whole life, but you’re just not sure where to start.  You have an extreme passion for fashion, but getting into an industry such as this can be hard.  Well, there are many things you can do to take yourself forward and make your dream a reality.  Getting a degree in a fashion related field is the first step and there are many Colleges out there, which provide a great education for this.  All you have to do is find the one that fits you and provides the education and degree program you want.

Here are some of the programs:

Fashion Design, Fashion Marketing, Fashion Journalism, Fashion Production, Fashion Management, Fashion Promotion, Textile Design, Retail Management, Fashion Publishing, Styling, Visual Merchandising and Footwear and Accessories.

Once in that degree program is good to start networking, look for some internship’s that interest you.  Also, attending local fashion shows or fashion week is a great way to network and get your name out there.  Looking for jobs within the fashion realm will help you get the experience you need.  The only reason I even mention this point is because employers these days want someone with experience.  Also, having that experience can be the difference between getting the job and being passed over.

There is something that fits everyone’s tastes.  Once, you figure out what you want to study, everything kind of falls into place.  This industry is hard to get in to and hard to stay in, you really have to be on your game.  If you keep up the hard work and continue to push yourself, that dream will become a reality soon enough.

Being Fashionable on a Budget

Being Fashionable on a Budget

-1

We are all saving our money these days, so trying to shop for clothes we really want can come at a high price.  It sucks; I know I’m right there saving my money like everyone else.  You see something you really want, but the budget you put yourself on just won’t allow you to have it.  Basically, you’re thinking, this economy better get better fast, because I need some major retail therapy and something fashionable to wear.  Well, there is a way to be fashionable on budget and still look like you spent a fortune.  So I did some searching and found some items I think you’ll love.

-3

This first item can be found at New Look; it is a black and white striped godet top, priced at £20.  It has a scoop neck with button detailing; the stripes are wide in contrast and also this top has a back insert, which gives the top a flared look.  The long-line style gives it a playful look, pairing this with some jeans, awesome Metallic flats, priced at £16 and oversized sunglasses, priced at £10 you have a look that is easy and cheap to do, but still keeps you stylish at the same time.

-4

The next top I saw can also be found at New Look, it is prawn cocktail in colour, very pretty.  This pearl shoulder top, priced at £12, has a scoop neck and back with pearlscent beads on the shoulders.  Pair this with some Acid Wash Jeggings, priced at £18 and some Suedette Peep Toe Booties, priced at £16 and you have an outfit your friends will die for.

-5

The next look can be found at Miss Selfridge, it is a large floral cami with front functional placket, lace trim detail and floral print all over.  This top is priced at £22, pairing it with some semi-dark coloured jeans or black calf length leggings, priced at £12; you have a great Summer look at an affordable price.  Floral prints are big right now and one of my favourite looks for the Summer – you can’t go wrong with a great looking floral print.

-6

Each one of these looks can be embellished with some accessories such as a cute scarf, a rocking belt, or a pretty necklace. If you don’t like these looks, you just don’t think there you then go for something that is. If the colors are too dull for your taste, then go for something bold and bright. If loud colors aren’t your style then go for some neutrals or darks, but whatever you choose, make sure you stay true to yourself, that’s the most important thing. But, remember you can still be fashionable even in this horrible economy; you just have to search around for what you like. Being trendy and up-to-date on the latest fashions, doesn’t mean you have to go broke doing it.

Tips for Organising your Wardrobe

Tips for Organising your Wardrobe

9-21-habol2

OK, so you have a wardrobe full of clothes, but you’re not sure what to do with them.  I, myself have that problem; my mom calls it being a pack rat.  It’s hard to get rid of things, but the fact is your wardrobe is overflowing, so you’re starting to think getting rid of some things is the only option.  Well it’s not, I figured out a solution that I think will work for many people in the same situation as me.

Since the Summer is upon us, those are the clothes you’re going to want to have hanging up.  First what you do is, get a couple of latch storage boxes (some really pretty ones available now), a black maker, and a couple of rubbish bags.  Next, you pick out the clothes you know in your heart, you will never wear again.  Put those clothes in the rubbish bags and know you’re not going to be throwing them out, those bags will be going to charity or a shelter in your area.

Now you’ve probably figured out what the storage boxes are for and yes you would be correct.  These storage boxes are going to be for the Winter items you have, I mean honestly they don’t need to be hanging up at the moment.  So grab the boxes, get some paper and tape it to them, and then mark them like so…

- Jumpers/sweat shirts

- Pants/jeans

- Long sleeve shirts

- Autumn/Winter shoes

Place the appropriate garments in the box and put the box on the floor of your wardrobe.  Now all you will have hanging up are the clothes you’re going to wear.  This eliminates the clutter and the closet won’t be overflowing with stuff anymore.  Make sure you repeat this throughout the year, because as we all know, we will end up buying more stuff and will need a place to put it!

I hope these tips help…

You’re Guide to the Perfect Handbag for 2010

You’re Guide to the Perfect Handbag for 2010

-3

Summer is fast approaching, before we know it the sun will actually be shining (fingers… toes… legs and arms crossed) and you need the perfect accessory to go with that perfect Summer outfit.  But, what is out there this season and where can you get it?  Well, I’ll tell you, to me the perfect accessory is a beautiful handbag and this can make any outfit look like a winner.  So I went searching around and found one that will make your friend’s completely jealous, that’s how fabulous it is.  The first one I found is by DKNY; it’s the Patent Leather Shopper, in red.  This handbag features dual carrying handles, with gold tone hardware and silk signature logo scarf, which accents the front.  The handbag also has lined interior with back wall pockets. This hot looking bag will definitely get you noticed, you can use for a day or night out with friends.  No matter where you go, you will always look stylish with this handbag on your shoulder.  It’s also large enough to fit EVERYTHING and will add an instant pop of colour to your look while the scarf adds a touch of sophistication.

-4

The next one I came across, which is also by DKNY, would be perfect to take on a picnic or a day at the beach (weather permitting!).  Now this one isn’t a handbag, but a leather backpack that comes in two colours, pink and yellow.  Both colours are good for the upcoming Summer season.  This leather backpack features a buckle closure at the front, flap pockets, and detachable shoulder strap, plus it’s totally girly and cute.  This also has lined interior with back wall pockets.  This backpack is a great accessory for any day outfit, because it can carry whatever you need and do it in style.

How to choose:

If you don’t like these bags, you can always find one that fits your taste.  Bigger bags can drown out smaller frames so think ‘size appropriate’ – big totes are in but if you are small you can end up looking like you are carrying your sleeping bag en route to a slumber party!  They will also make you look even smaller and drowned out.  Likewise, if you are taller a small bag may emphasize your larger frame, you don’t want to look like you’ve borrowed Cindy’s handbag!

If wearing bandeau dresses or tops it’s best to use clutch bags to avoid bag straps on bare shoulders.  Bigger bags are best left to day wear and root out smaller bags for a more elegant evening look.  Accessorize always have a cheap and cheerful collection of bags that can disposed of after a couple of ‘wears’, likewise with Penneys.

Just try to go for something a little different to what you would normally go for, it’s an easy way to look stylish no matter what clothes you are wearing.  If you typically wear plain block colour outfits then go for bags with colour or embellishments.  If you are embracing this seasons denim trend try tassles or studs to liven up your look.  Summer is a time when you can get away with quirky prints and loud colours so go for it!

If you’re anything like me finding shoes that fit you, can be a pain in the ass.  Sorry for my language, but it’s true.  I have the hardest time finding shoes because of my petite size and it’s really annoying.  I’ve searched all over, determined to find someone who carries the size I need, in the styles I love.

-4-6

Well, my search has come to an end, I found it, and Shoetastic is the name.  I couldn’t believe my eyes, shoes that would actually fit my tiny feet, I thought that was a myth.  So what is Shoetastic?  Well, it’s an Irish based business, located in Cordal, Castleisland in good old Co.Kerry.  They carry everything from boots, casual shoes, high heels, peep toes, to a bridal collection and in sizes 13,-4 (EU 32-37).  All the items that Shoetastic sells are Italian and Spanish designer labels and yes, they may be a little expensive, but well worth it.  I feel like I’ve just died and gone to shoe heaven, finally I don’t have compromise on shoes and either will you my petite fashionistas.  Go to Shoetastic today and get the shoes you have always wanted, but could never find, because now you can!

DRESS to Impress for a Night out on the Town

DRESS to Impress for a Night out on the Town

prodDetailMainTA011_SP104_13_GM08Xb

You’re going out for a night of fun with your girls this weekend, but what should you wear?  You have a wardrobe full of clothes, but there’s not one thing that catches your eye.  What’s a girl to do?  Go shopping, that’s what.  Littlewoods have the best selection of dresses that would make heads turn so fast, they would get whiplash, that’s how hot these dresses are.  The first dress is by Lipsy, it’s a one shoulder dress with pleaded styling in grey, priced at €84.  You can pair this dress with some ultra sexy strappy heels and a black clutch with some bling and you’re ready to have fun.

prodDetailMainT-1A006P_SP100_08_VA04Db

The next dress is by Love Label and is definitely on my favorites list.  This dress is flattery at its best, with its split sleeves and drop waist it’s flirty meets sexy.  This dress elongates the body giving you that long, leaner look.  It also has large embellishment on the chest, which gives the dress an elegant feel, while the front pockets give it a laidback, informal feel.  You can pair this dress with high heels and a metallic cuff or with gladiator sandals, giving it a chic kind of feel.  This dress comes in two colors black and purple, so if you like bright, bold colours my suggestion would be to go for the purple.  Price, €69.

prodDetailMainT-2A006P_SP117_02_GL332c

This next dress combines two things I like – floral prints and stripes.  Also, the bright colours make it stand out, perfect for making a statement.  This silk dress with its single split sleeve is by Glam by Caprice – €72.  The neckline shows off your shoulders, while the length adds a flirty touch.  Its floral print combined with flattering stripes and bold, stunning colours is a must have in any woman’s wardrobe.  Also, by combining this dress with some daring heels, a clutch, and colourful earrings, you have an outfit that is absolutely fabulous.

Sue Wong’s Alice in Wonderland Inspired Fashions

Sue Wong’s Alice in Wonderland Inspired Fashions

-1

Seriously, how excited are you about this? Wait, you don’t have to answer that, I am excited enough for everyone. I usually don’t get this happy about movie inspired fashions, but Alice in Wonderland is the exception. Besides being my favorite book when I was younger, it was turned into my new favorite movie by one of my favorite directors Tim Burton. Now designer Sue Wong has created fashions, which were inspired by the movie. First, you have a dress inspired by the character Alice; this short dress is combined with a black lace bodice, bold empire waist, and a rose colored skirt. Words to describe this dress feminine, fun, and flirty.

-2

The next dress was inspired by the White Queen, with its spaghetti straps, beaded detail bodice, and embellished overlay on the front, this dress can only be described as vintage looking, with a hint of sophistication.

-3

The Red Queen inspired dress is a strapless cocktail sheath dress with Victorian metallic embroidery and bead work. For people that don’t exactly want to wear red, you can also find this dress in black as well.

-4

The White Rabbit inspired fashion is a short bubble dress with draped bodice and 3-D flower appliqué with beaded centers. Bubble was big last Summer but you can still get away with it this year. Can I just say that I absolutely love this dress, what’s not to love!

-5

The last fashion inspired by the movie is the Organza Short Halter Dress with a ribbon flower embroidered skirt. This look was inspired by the Talking Flower Garden. This dress can also be described as fun and flirty; doesn’t it remind you of spring? There are also a couple other looks inspired by this movie as well, you can find them on www.suewong.com.
